Questions • Are your members willing to take risks for God? • Are they stepping out in faith? • How can we ensure that our courts are vital and productive?
“Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3 “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” John 15:4 It’s about relationship.
Personal Enrichment • Spending time in prayer and worship doesn’t change God; it changes us. • We need to engage in all types of prayer: Adoration Contrition Thanksgiving Supplication
Psalm 50:14 “Offer praise as your sacrifice to God; Fulfill your vows to the Most High. Then call on me in your time of distress; I will rescue you, and you shall honor me.”
Prayer • Helps us to do what we were created to do: • To Know • To Love • To Serve • Is what sets CDA apart from other organizations.
Prayer impacts personal service. • Reluctance to serve comes from forgetting who we are and why we do what we do. • Who are we? • Prayer helps us remember.
Why courts members pray We pray to find out • Where the Lord wants us to serve. • Where He wants the court to serve—and when. • The gifts and talents of the members of the court. God will reveal if we ask.
What you must know: The Lord answers prayer. • Keep your ears and eyes open. • Listen for the prompting of the Holy Spirit.
Set goals prayerfully. • Choose projects that support your goals. • Do your research. • Fundraise to support your goals. • Recognize that fundraising is a holy.
Foster Unity • Pray for each other. • Check on each other.
Court Meetings • Atmosphere/Set the scene. • Opening Prayer – not just part of the agenda. • Short prayer services can build up the sisterhood; intercede for each other.
Closing prayers • Ask God to perfect your plans • Send forth/commission your committees
Before Activities • Pray together privately. • Pray to be good witnesses of your faith. • Pray that the love of God will shine through you. • Invite the public to join in prayer. • Let the attendees see we are women of faith. • Give them the opportunity to experience Church outside of church.
Personalize your prayer to the activity. • Pray for your purpose. • Lift up those who are participating. • Pray that all in attendance will enjoy the day of Christian fellowship.
