  1. God’s Ministers--Angels Heb 1:13 (NLT) And God never said to an angel, as he did to his Son, "Sit in honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet." 14 But angels are only servants. They are spirits sent from God to care for those who will receive salvation. 2:1 So … (Therefore…)

  2. God’s Ministers--Angels 2:1 So …we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. 2 The message God delivered through angels has always proved true, and the people were punished for every violation of the law and every act of disobedience. 3 What makes us think that we can escape if we are indifferent to this great salvation that was announced by the Lord Jesus himself?

  3. Angels—Just who are they? • They are Ministers (and messengers): • Angels minister to US! • Heb 1:14 Are they not ALL ministering spirits sent forth to ministerfor those who will inherit salvation? • They ministered to Jesus, too

  4. Angels—Just who are they? • Characteristics of Angels • Strong! • Ps 103:20 (NKJ) Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength,… • Obedient to His desires for us: • 2 Pet 2:11 (NKJ) whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. • Get their assignments from heaven as a result of prayer: • Dan 10:12 “for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come BECAUSE OF YOUR WORDS.

  5. Angels—Just who are they? • They work in “real time” (they exist in one place at one time, and are occupied with a project) • Dan 10:12… I have come because of your words. 13 "BUT THE PRINCE OF THE KINGDOM OF PERSIA WITHSTOOD ME TWENTY-ONE DAYS; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.

  6. Angels—Just who are they? • They engage in spiritual conflict— • They deal with specific humans and demons • they can effect nations and leaders and policies, • Dan 10 :20, Dan 12:1, Jude 1:9

  7. Angels—Just who are they? • They praise with us! • Ps 148:2 (NKJ) Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts! • They are worshippers themselves, and NOT to be worshipped • Dan 8:16-18, John—Rev 22:8)

  8. Angels—Just who are they? • They celebrate God’s grace upon us • Lk 15:10 (NKJ) "Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." …even though they don’t fully understand grace: • 1 Pet 1:10-12 (NKJ) Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, …-things which angels desire to look into.

  9. Angels—Just who are they? • They specifically are in touch with God relating to innocent children (“guardian angels”) • Mt 18:10 (NKJ) • They apparently escort us (the saved) in death • Lk 16:22 (NKJ) "So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

  10. Angels—Just who are they? • They apparently outnumber us: • Heb 12:22 (NKJ) But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, • Rev 5:11 (NKJ) Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,

  11. Angels—Just who are they? • They can be seen: • whether recognized • At Empty tomb, Seen ministering to Jesus, Shepherds, Joseph, Mary, Daniel, Peter, others • or unrecognized • Heb 13:2 (NKJ) Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. • but usually are not seen physically at all

  12. Angels—Just who are they? • THE WORLD TO COME IS NOT FOR THE ANGELS TO RULE • Heb 2:5 For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels. • WE have been placed OVER THEM in the future! • 1 Cor 6:3 (NKJ) Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? • Jude 1:6 (NKJ) And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;

  13. God’s Ministers--Angels 2:1 So …we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, … 3 What makes us think that we can escape if we are indifferent to this great salvation that was announced by the Lord Jesus himself?
