UK-China R&D Cooperation: Political and Thematic Priorities JUNE 2011: CHINA-UK SUMMIT • Premier Wen Jiabao and Prime Minister David Cameron agreed to increase R&D cooperation between China and the UK JUNE 2011: CHINA-UK JOINT COMMISSION FOR R&D • Priority themes for R&D cooperation agreed • Renewable Energy (climate change) • Healthy Populations • Food safety and security • Innovation cooperation (UK’s Technology Strategy Board) … Mechanisms now being agreed between UK Research Councils and Chinese funders (MOST, CAS, NSFC + OTHERS) to support joint research in priority fields
