If Paul Came To YourChurch • Paul wanted to visit local churches of Christ to encourage them (1 Thess. 2:17 – 3:13), but also to hold them accountable for their actions (2 Cor. 12:14 – 13:2) • Paul’s presence was discredited by opponents of his own generation (2 Cor. 10:10-11) • Paul is not present today, but his inspired words remain in all church buildings where the Bible is still present

If Paul Came Back Today… • He would find an offer of “cut rate” salvation in a “faith only” message (Rom. 3:28; [1:5; 6:17; 16:26]; Eph. 2:8-9; [4:5; 5:26; Acts 19:5]; Gal. 3:26-27; Tit. 3:5) • He would find differing views on baptism (Acts 22:16; Rom. 6:3-4,17-18; Col. 2:12) • He would find a system of denominational division (1 Cor. 1:10-13; Eph. 4:4-6)

If Paul Came Back Today… • He wouldfindpeopleclaiming to speak in tongues and workmiracles (1 Cor. 13:7-8) • He wouldfindreligionsteaching doctrines differentfromJesus (Gal. 1:6-8; Col. 2:8; 1 Tim. 6:3) • He wouldfindpeopledesiring to bejustifiedbytheOldLaw (Gal. 5:1-4; Col. 2:14,16) • He wouldfindprognosticatorspredictingthe date forthecoming of the Lord (1 Thess. 5:2-4)

  5. If Paul Came Back Today… • He would find women preachers (1 Tim. 2:12) and women elders (1 Tim. 3:1-2) • He would find unbalanced preaching in the pulpits (2 Tim. 4:2)

  6. If Paul Came To YourChurch • Many other religious practices would astound and amaze Paul • What attitudes and actions among churches of Christ would trouble Paul?
