  1. Gluu releases OX 1.1 to enhance features for electronic identity enrollment Gluu announced today that version 1.1 of its open source OX project, which provides an OAuth2 compliant OpenID Connect provider (OP), UMA authorization server (AS), OpenID Connect and UMA client code, and an administrative web application, is now available on GitHub. The newest version of code includes new features that enable an organization to publish invitation codes to restrict or organize public registrations. It also enables a person to use a social or mobile identity as their preferred user credentials, or even to use SAML to connect to an enterprise identity service like Microsoft Federated Sso. “There is a new opportunity for organizations to perform high level of assurance enrollments online,” said Gluu CEO Mike Schwartz. “At enrollment time, if you can validate a person’s identity at a reliable IDP SAML, or even Google, it’s a very handy credential. However, I still advise organizations to enroll other identifying information, such as a phone number or mobile device identifier, so that if the IDP relationship is broken, you can still identify the person, and grant them access to their content.

  2. With this new release, OX can now handle some pretty complex enrollment processes, and enable organizations to include custom business logic pre and post-registration. As part of the OX 1.1 Core release, Gluu also introduced a new SAML Java library. This library enables a Java application to authenticate a person using ADFS or any other compliant SAML Identity Provider (IDP) that supports cryptographic response signing only. In addition to the Shibboleth SAML Service Provider (SP), or the Asimba SAML Proxy, this OX java library adds to the supported SAML SP options available to application developers using the Gluu Server as their IDP. About Gluu: Gluu is Austin, TX service providers whose open source authentication and API access management stacks help companies secure Web and mobile applications. The Gluu Server leverages standards such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, UMA, SAML 2.0, and SCIM to enable federated single sign-on (SSO) and trust elevation. The Gluu Server is used by universities, government agencies, and companies to secure employee facing and consumer network services.
