  2. What is it at the core? • It is active reading • You are engaging yourself to be efficient. • You are learning to become expert readers.

  3. SQ3R dissected • Survey: • Scan the text: headings, pictures, bold words, colored words and summaries.

  4. Question • Make questions: • Write questions about the passage you want to know. • What is the author’s purpose? • What other information do you want to know? • What should the author have written about.

  5. Read • Read the text in full. • Note anything you think the author didn’t write about or should have written about. • You can still write more questions in this part.

  6. Recite • Answer the questions you wrote. • Did you find the answer to the question??? • Seek it out if you didn’t.

  7. Review • Close your book and review what you read. • Do you know what you read? • Do you need to revisit what you read?
