Library Student Student Learning Outcome • Be able to locate Delta College Library’s homepage and log on to the library Catalog and subscription online Databases on and off the campus • Understand the functions of the library catalog and online databases • Be able to conduct a Boolean keyword search in the catalog and such online databases as Literary Resource Center, Jstore and PowerSearch • Be able to find peer-reviewed, academic research articles • Be able to evaluate and cite the retrieved sources in MLA style

Before conducting the search, review your research topic and keywords. • Conduct an Advanced Search in the database, using appropriate Boolean logic operators (AND to narrow down your search; OR to broaden you search; NOT to exclude part of the information). • Select All content types and All Electronic Sources before clicking on the Search botton.

  9. May add another keyword to further narrow down your search.

  11. Conduct a Subject Search Click on Subject Guide Search. Type in the author’s name (last name first, first name). You may select the author from the predicted list from the database. Limit your search results to documents with full text and peer-reviewed publications. Click on the search button.

  12. Click on Subdivisions to open up the subtopics under the main subject of Shakespeare.

  13. Conduct a Keyword Search Identify keywords or phrase for the keyword search Use one or more Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) to thread your keywords together if needed Limit your search to full-text articles before clicking on the search button

  14. Edit the Citation from the Citation Tool If It Is Incorrect

  15. Find Journal Articles in JStore • Use quotation marks around a phrase or a full name to find relevant articles • Use Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) if needed to conduct an effective keyword search

  16. Click on the title to open the full-text article
