  1. Dr. Seuss wasn’t really a doctor!

  2. Claiming You Are A “Christian” Does Not Make You One

  3. The Name “Christian” Found Three Times in The Entire Bible Acts 11:26 NKJV 26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. Acts 26:28 NKJV 28 Then Agrippa said to Paul, "You almost persuade me to become a Christian." 1 Peter 4:16 NKJV 16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

  4. “Christian” Defined “a person who believes in the doctrines of Christ and acknowledges His divinity, a person having the qualities expected of one who professes Christianity.” (Webster’s Dictionary p. 175) John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 2 John 1:6 “we walk according to His commandments” 2 John 1:9 “He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son”

  5. Who Is A Christian? How Can You Know Whether or Not You Are Christians Indeed?

  6. 1 Peter 4:14-16 A Christian is Someone Who Suffers For Christ – v.16 2 Timothy 3:12 “all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution” The life of a faithful Christian is a REBUKE and a CONDEMNATION of the life of one who is rebelling against God and living in sin Hebrews 11:7 “he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith” John 3:19-21 “lest his deed should be exposed”

  7. 1 Peter 4:14-16 A Christian should be unafraid to expose, reprove and to preach against the unfruitfulness of the world Ephesians 5:11 “have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.” Christians will suffer physically for the cause of Christ - 2 Corinthians 11:22-28 In today’s world most often Christians suffer verbal abuse! 1 Peter 4:4 “speaking evil of you”

  8. Jesus Felt The Effects of Verbal Abuse and Ridicule Accused of being a deceiver, breaking Sabbath laws, traditions of elders and being a blasphemer Condemned as a wine bibber Assailed as casting out demons by prince of demons Ridiculed at His trial and on the cross, spat upon and beaten

  9. Through All This Verbal and Physical Abuse Christ: Still felt it in His heart to weep – Luke 19:41 NKJV 41 Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it,” Still found it in His heart to forgive – Luke 23:34 NKJV 34 Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." And they divided His garments and cast lots.”

  10. When We Are Rebuked, Ridiculed or Verbally Abused How do we Act in Contrast to Christ? Turn the Other Cheek? Or Retaliate with Greater Violence and Verbal Abuse?

  11. Who Is A Christian? A Christian is one who will pay the price to follow Christ, be it physical or verbal abuse from others Luke 14:27 “does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple”

  12. A Christian Is One Who Has A High Standard of Morality 1 Peter 4:15 deals with the standards of morality that Christians should display The man of God is 1 Peter 4:8-11 and not 2 Timothy 3:2-5 Our morality should be seen by others – that God might be seen in us and He might be praised

  13. Christians Are Gentle & Kind, Not Violent 2 Timothy 2:24-26 You should love to be around people like this “Gossip is worse than the assassins bullet, it murders the character of may good people.”

  14. “Let None of You Suffer as a Thief” Verse 15 A True Christian is an honest person- Matthew 5:33-37 Christians live by a different standard – Matthew 5:38-48; 22:37-39 Christians live by the rule – “You shall not steal”- Romans 13:9

  15. “Let None of You Suffer as a Thief” Verse 15 Christians are no evil doers Romans 12:20,21 “overcome evil with good” Romans 12:18 “live peaceably with all men.” Romans 12:19 “I will repay” Christians are not “busy bodies” These high standards of morality are given from the Word of God in which True Christians stand firm

  16. The Christian Places His Soul In The Hands Of His Creator Verse 19 Christians are saved with difficulty – verse 18 Matthew 22:11-14 “Therefore” – In light of the severity of judgment “Let those who suffer” – all of God’s people “Commit their souls to Him” – to deliver as a deposit Genesis 1:26,27; Hebrews 12:9

  17. How Does The Christian Commit His Soul? Constant obedience to His Will Why does the Christian commit his soul? God will keep whatever is committed to Him – 2 Timothy 1:12 He will aid those who rely and lean on Him – Hebrews 13:20,21

  18. How Do You Stand Or Measure Up? Are you one who suffers for Christ? Are you one who maintains a high moral standard? Are you one who has realized the difficulty of salvation and the need for placing your soul in God’s hands?

  19. Are you a Christian like Dr. Seuss is a Doctor? In Name Only?
