Crop-wise Performance in Kharif, 2004 (in lac tons)
Major Constraints in Achieving Results 80% area rainfed. Kharif crops performance depends upon Monsoon (45% Deficit). During June-August, 8 Districts received deficient rain, 2 Districts scanty, out of 12 Districts. Dry spell from end of August- September causing further damage. 23,000 ha. Area remained unsown. Overall crop damage 30-35%. Damage > 50% in 78,000 hectare.
Strategy for Rabi 90-100% coverage of area under H.Y.V. to be ensured. 60,000 qtls. HYV Seeds of Wheat to be distributed, S.R.R. 17%. Ensuing adequate availability of other production inputs. To promote efficient irrigation through sprinklers.
To ensure adequate credit through financial Institutions, KCC. Management of weeds and pest through I.P.M. Promoting on farm water management. 20,000 hectare Watershed areas to get focussed attention for increasing productivity.
Success Stories/ Best Practices/ New Interventions Crop diversification through project approach, escort services. Community participation in cost sharing, O&M in Water Management. Farm women empowerment for decision making (550 Groups).
Soil health cards (50% farmers covered). Constitution and Capacity building of 1,738 SHG/ FIG for marketing and value addition. 22 success stories developed, documented under NATP. Replication.
