  9. Example from Troubled Projects SIG Developing a Skill-Set for a “Project Doctor”Steps towards the Development of a Standardized Methodology for Troubled Project ManagementIs it possible to classify project troubles and solutions to them? Trying to develop a standardized approach of diagnosis, therapy and of healing – can we be successful at all? The PMBOK Guide defines the term Project as: “A project is a temporary endeavor to create a unique product or service.” Project Management is defined: “Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements.” If a project is a unique entity in itself can there be a standardized approach valid for most or maybe even all troubles? The question is whether we will be able to develop a repository—a structured collection—of methods and solutions, which can be applied by, project managers to solve troubles or be used by consultants and trainers to support project managers.Want to learn more? 31. Information Technology and Telecommunications SIGWebinars are one of the most valued aspects of IT & Telecom SIG membership. We strive to provide webinars that not only exceed your expectations, but also are the best in the IT & Telecom world. IT and Telecom guest speakers come to us because:•   We offer a knowledgeable audience that can understand advanced concepts, lessons learned, and related to industry-focused experiences. The SIG audience often discusses and tests ideas in ways few other audiences could. •   The opportunity to try out concepts on a worldwide stage which often gives them feedback they could not receive locally.•   The honor and exposure gained as a speaker for our PMI SIG means that more influential people will talk about their presentation and ideas, which is an excellent opportunity for personal branding. If you would like to be a guest speaker or if you want to introduce, nominate somebody please contact Amir at the Meet your Manager link below. 31

  34. My Experiences with PMI SIGs In addition to the numerous SIGs available through PMI, the Minnesota PMI Chapter had several SIGs that met at different times each month. Some SIGs met before the dinner meeting, as well as once a month other times. 34

  35. I was active in the IT SIG and became its coordinator. • Then I started the eBusiness/e- Commerce Chapter SIG. • Our largest SIG was the New Product Development SIG. • There are many good reasons for attending a chapter meeting. In the Minnesota chapter, the SIG programs were the highlight of the evening for many. 35

  36. When I joined the Minnesota PMI Chapter in the ,I immediately became involved with chapter-sponsored LIGs/SIGs. 36
