  2. What is a CACT? The Centers for Applied Competitive Technologies, called CACT, are a network of workforce training and technical consulting Centers located throughout California’s community colleges that help advanced technology companies compete globally with leaner operational processes and a well trained workforce.

  3. Modern Manufacturing Challenges • Local and Global Competition • Requirements to run leaner and quicker • Less labor, More technology, Faster adoption • Dwindling talent pool • Shortfall of technically skilled workers • Shortage of engineers • No more shop class!

CACT Workforce Training • CACTs are dedicated to upgrading our workforce • Because the CACTs are associated with the community colleges, we are able to tap into a wealth of subject matter experts • Flexible and customized training • Flexible funding (private, ETP, grants) • High-tech skills and technologies • Workshops & seminars • Entrepreneur's Conference • College credit and non-credit courses • Access to apprenticeships and internships • Engineering apprenticeship starting at COC in Fall 2009 • CSULA Engineering will join University Center
