  4. The relationship to SOS-Children‘s Villages • Thefounderof IRIM, Nenad Bakić, Rotarian, • donated SOS-ChildrenVillage Lekenikmicro:bits • ChildrenfromtheVillages take part: • in the project „Croatian Makers” • in workshops of robotics • andprogramming

  5. How should STEM Revolution be done? • Withmicro:bit ! • Whatismicro:bit? • mini-Computer • device for learning

  6. What can we use micro:bit for? • micro:bitcanbeused for simplelearningof: • Programming • Elektronics • Digital Literacy • Design • Technology • Physics • ...

  7. What is to be found in the BOX? • …you can find: • BBC micro:bit • USB Cabel • Battery • Application instructions

  8. Until today micro:bits were • send for nocosts to: • more than 100 libraries • biblio-libraries • National Library More than 22.000 micro:bits were donated!

  9. IRIM-CroatianMakersboost the development of • STEM-Programs in: • 950 schools& societies • othereducationalinstitutions • SOS-Children‘s Villagesin Croatia

  10. What have children received? • ChildreninSOS Children‘s Villages in Croatia • on bothlocations(LekenikandLadmirovci) • receivedfromIRIM adequateequipment: • Robots, • Mikrocomputers, • Mikro:Bits,Laptops, Internet-Stuff-Kits

  11. Educated Mentors! • mentors for micro:bits are educated • theymanagemoderntechnology • they are involvedinIRIMactivities

  12. How to give the children the self-trust? • And then comes the time when the chilldren have to leave SOS Children‘s Village. • This step into the independencecan be hard.D

  13. The most importatnt element is Self-trust! • Children, who leave SOS Children‘s Villages, usually miss one THING ?! • Self-trust!

  14. What ist the idea? • Children from SOS Children Villages (age 15-16) go to SOS-Children‘s Villages in other countries as Technology-Ambassadors. s Pilot-project would be with Austria!

  15. What is our luck today? • We have a extremely advantageous device - micro:bit • Anybodycanlearn how to programmwithit. • 2 (two)workshopsare enough, for the children in the Austrian SOS Children‘s Villages to learn this newtechnology and to start to use it.

  16. Who prepares the education-materials? • IRIM-Instructorspreparematerials for education: • for teachers • for children • At the same time theyleave somecca. 20 micro:bitsfor the future activities at the spot.

  17. How can children profit out of it? • This new skills makes children from SOS Children‘s Villages (in the moment in Croatia) feeling successful in some new technology that is seen as trendy and attractive! • Thisexperiencemakeschildren: • personalystronger • and • boosttheirself-trust!.
