  1. Survey Results Used By Ohio

  2. 30-Day Accumulated Reintegration Event • Both Service Members and Families prefer one-on-one classes rather than PowerPoint • Briefings are currently acceptable, but those presenters that include group participation score consistently higher on surveys • Requested information includes employment, employment benefits, MIRF, dental, education, GI Bill, and disability • Bring materials to fill out and stand by for questions rather than provide a number to call and jet out the door (i.e. personal touch) • Separate breakouts for individual topics with option to visit only those that interest Used By Ohio

  3. 30-Day Accumulated Reintegration Event (cont.) • There is a very little variation between the scores for specific briefings and specific briefers (less than 5% of total score). • Briefing length continues to be an issue so long as the event consists solely of PowerPoint presentations. • Those briefers that provide actual materials and support rather than simply a phone number to call score consistently higher (3.75 for ESGR vs. 3.91 for the VA) on surveys. Used By Ohio

  4. 30 Day Reintegration Event (cont.) • Unit Training NCO/Readiness NCO available to answer questions • Suggestion: Pass out card in the morning so that Families can think of questions for Town Hall? Used By Ohio

  5. 30-DAY AGENDA (COA 2 – Freedom Salute One-Day Event) • Conduct Freedom Salute Campaign in morning with employers present – Employers can eat lunch with the Service Member and Family • Battlemind – resiliency training occurs during Town Hall/breakout sessions by demographics • Providers continue to man booths until 1630 Used By Ohio

  6. 30-DAY AGENDA (COA 3 – Freedom Salute Two-Day Event) • Conduct Freedom Salute Campaign in morning with employers present – Employers can eat lunch with the Service Member and Family • Battlemind – resiliency training occurs during Town Hall/breakout sessions by demographics • Providers continue to man booths until 1630, resume in morning 9-1100 hrs • COA 3 requires all stay in hotel outside 50-mile radius, strongly recommend local folks stay in hotel Used By Ohio

  7. 30-DAY AGENDA (COA 3) • Free time allows Families to transition to evening events, enjoy pool, prepare for childcare, or drop off children • ½ hour finger food social – followed by dinner exclusive or simultaneous with marriage enrichment or single Service Member theme (mandatory fun) • Social time allows Service Members and Families to enjoy local establishments, etc. • Early start sets conditions for more participation in hotel • Breakout sessions used to cover areas such as financial management, legal briefings, etc. – possibly prescheduled mentoring sessions with Chaplain, etc. Used By Ohio

  8. 60-Day Reintegration Event • Too much repetition of material from 30-Day Event • 30- and 60-Day events are often less than 30 days apart • More information on employment/unemployment benefits • Job placement/employment aids on hand at event • More specific information on anger management/compulsive behavior, perhaps set in one-on-one sessions • More information on GI Bill and education benefits Used By Ohio

  9. 60-Day Reintegration Event • More interactive activities • Training/Readiness NCO on hand to discuss Service Member issues • More SMEs at tables to answer questions one-on-one • More information on VA Home Loan Used By Ohio

  10. 60-DAY AGENDA (COA 1): • Why give an SMSS overview at 60-Day, rather than 30-Day? Why not both? • Current event is 2 hours, 15 minutes of instruction, with little to no providers present • Are we meeting the program’s intent? • Bonding/social activity non-existent • Opportunity to share challenges of reintegration with a license professional in a private setting (R) non-existent • Marriage enrichment (R) non-existent • SingleService Member enrichment (R) non-existent Used By Ohio
