  2. Introductions • Ms. McCarthy– Language Arts/Reading • Ms. Suckstorff – Math • Mr. Harrell – Humanities/Social Studies • Mr. Miller– Science • Ms. Delaney – Counselor • Mr. Tornfelt – 6th grade’s Assistant Principal

  3. Housekeeping • Thank you for helping with cookie dough! • Progress Reports coming soon, must be signed and returned to teacher. • Independent reading book needs to be brought to class every day!

  4. So you sent your kid to an IB school? • IB Portfolios: Going digital this year • Design Cycle: Done through Social Studies class • Community and Service: More on that in a second • IB Report Cards: Sent home twice a year • Learner Profiles and Areas of Interaction: Discussed in class often

  5. Community and Service • 20 hours total due on April 25th, 2014. • Summer and 1st quarter hours due October 29th • 10 hours must be completed by the end of 2nd quarter to be eligible for Atlanta Trip. • All hours turned in to Ms. Suckstorff. • Forms located in planner, outside student services, on my wiki, in my classroom. • Magnet REQUIREMENT!

Power School Grades • Susan.stone@cms.k12.nc.us • Access your student’s grades at any time • Updated in real time • Student’s can have these passwords as well! • Encourage your student to access Power School often to check his or her grades. • Late HW=50% credit • Formal Assignments=55% • Informal Assignments=45%

  8. Lunch is at what time??? • Snack in 3rdblock around 11:15 • Healthy, high protein snacks are encouraged • Lunch at 1:30 PM

  9. Discipline Policy • Silent Lunch • Lunch Detention • 5 Lunch Detentions = Administrative Referral • We will be communicating with you through this process.

  10. Technology • We are a B.Y.O.T. school • Devices used at teacher discretion • Not mandatory to bring a device • Headphones encouraged

  11. Beastly Buccaneer Needs • Thank you so much for your continued donation of classroom items. We are always in need of: • Kleenex • Hand Sanitizer • Markers • Paper • Tape • Headphones (earbuds)
