Effects of the Protestant Reformation • Luther & supporters break- Not totally Religious • Many German states & Scandinavian states became Lutheran • Charles I ( of Spain) elected Charles V (of H.R.E.) • Ruled over Spain and its overseas empire • Ruled over H.R.E- Austria/Hungary, Bohemia, southern Italy • Why or how is this problematic? • Why would German states become Lutheran because of this? • 1555 Peace of Augsburg
