PRAYER SUPPORTER HAVE TO DO?

The Job Description:

1. Maintain a strong devotional life of study, prayer, worship and sharing.

2. Receive emails from the DAP response centre, which contain the postcode, phone number and name of callers in your DAP area who have requested personal prayer for a special need.

3. Maintain your DAP Prayer Supporter’s Journal.

4. Phone the caller as soon as possible after receiving the DAP request email.

  • 5. Make phone calls to callers and pray with them as outlined in the Prayer Supporter’s training manual.
  • 6. Delete names from the DAP journal after prayer and indications that any further follow-up phone calls would be inappropriate or unwelcome.
  • 7. Refer callers to specialised support services where necessary.
  • 8. Bring the callers listed in the DAP Prayer Supporter’s journal, especially the ones still active, before the Lord daily in specific personal intercessory prayer.

9. Be sensitive to if and when to phone back for follow-up support prayer.

10. Encourage the development of an over-the-phone DAP friendship.

11. As appropriate, promote other prayer resources to the callers.

12. Be prepared to support callers with resources appropriate to their special need.

13. Forward a monthly report to the Media Ministries secretary.

14. Send feedback to the Media Ministries secretary on how to improve the service and ministry.

15. Be responsible for arranging an appropriate person (eg, other DAP supporter or church pastor, etc) to cover for you when you are unavailable (holidays, illness, etc).

16. (Optional) Script and/or record prayers for the DAP service and forward to the Media Ministries secretary - DAP.Scripts@adventistmedia.org.au
