  1. Quotes to use in essays Just because it's in print doesn't mean it's the gospel. Michael Jackson Reflection I think this means… This reminds me of… Warm-Up

  2. I will be tutoring for the English II EOC on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting this Thursday 2/13 • We will be reading some short stories and “learning” how to create a literature blog entry • For those of you who need help on this-come Thursday! Tutoring

  3. Condemned (adj.): to say in a strong and definite way that someone or something is bad or wrong • Sentence: They came back, the condemned man between them. He was a young boy from Warsaw (pg. 61). • Synonyms: decry, damn “Buzz” Word

  4. Read pages 85-97 • Go back through pages 85-97 • Highlight the similes on pg. 88, 92, 95 (2), 96 • Bracket and label the extreme imagery on page 94 (hint: it’s three paragraphs long!) Draw a picture of what you imagine when reading the three paragraphs in the margin/space Night by Elie Wiesel

  5. Follow along as we create a “checklist” for persuasive essays Persuasive Essay Foldable

  6. Glue the “reciprocal pronouns” definition in your Notes/Toolbox (last section) of your spiral • With your 9 o’clock partner • Write the model sentence in your notes (after the ones you just glued in) • Circle the reciprocal pronoun(s) in the sentence • Choose a way to revise the sentence.  Don’t change the entire sentence because it's already a great sentence.  Try to add to it.   (Like, change a pronoun to a noun so we know who or what the sentence is about, or add an adjective or adverb.  Or, if it's a compound sentence, make it two sentences. Write your revised version on the folder) • Create an imitation sentence. Format it just like the model sentence. Write it on the sentence strip. Grammar Practice

  7. Read pgs. 72-84 • Focus on the character of Elie • Underline the narrator’s statements about himself • Circle the character’s actions, speech, and thoughts • Star other characters’ action or speech Night

  8. How did Elie change from the beginning of the novel to the end? Use evidence from the text to support your answer. • Sentence stem: In the beginning of Night Elie was _______________ because _________ as shown on pg. __ “_______.” By the end of the story Elie has become ______________ because ______________ as shown on pg. ___ “_______.” Open Ended Response
