  2. Declare Yourself- 1st Person Narrative • DIRECTIONS: Write your very own Declaration of Independence. Declare yourself free from someone or something. • Must match the original Declaration of Independence format (4 parts) • Part 1- introduction that announces the reason for the document • Part 2- a declaration of the rights and freedoms you believe you are entitled to • Part 3- a specific list of complaints (Must have at least 5) • Part 4- a conclusion that formally states your independence • You May: • • include facts and details about your life to convey a vivid picture • • exaggerate how you feel about the issue • • use literary techniques- foreshadowing, climax, flashback, conflict , descriptive details and sensory language
