Forbearance. A Lovely Quality Eph.4:1-3, Col.3:10-15. Define Forbearance. To hold oneself up against, that is, (figuratively) : put up with - bear with endure, forbear, suffer. 1) To hold up. 2) To hold one’s self erect and firm. 3) To sustain, to bear, to endure.

Define Forbearance • To hold oneself up against, that is, (figuratively) : put up with - bear with endure, forbear, suffer. • 1) To hold up. 2) To hold one’s self erect and firm. 3) To sustain, to bear, to endure. • “Holding yourselves back from one another.” RWP • “putting up with one another in love;” BBE

  3. Areas That Can Annoy Us • Long Prayers • 10 Minute Break • Invitation Too Long • Kids Making Noise, Being Busy • Heating & Cooling • Mess Up a Song • Sermon Way Too Long • Hearing Problems • Wearing Loud Perfume • Can’t See Board / Screen

Acting Without Forbearance • Grumbling and Murmuring • Snickering • Disparaging Remarks • Saying Insensitive Things • Disruptive Looks, Ezk.3:8-9 • Heckling - To try to embarrass and annoy (someone speaking or performing in public) by questions, gibes, or objections; badger. • Gibes - To make taunting, heckling, or jeering remarks.

  5. Resulting Effect - Lack of Forbearance • Hurt Peoples Feelings – Pr.18:19 • Bad Influence on Children • Create Disturbance • Disruptive To Decorum, 1 Cor.14:40

Practicing Forbearance - Being Constructive, Helpful • Think of the Golden Rule, Matt.7:12WWJD • Pray About Words I Choose – Neh.2:2-5 • Look for a Good Time to Speak, Acts 18:24-26 • How Can I Help the Situation? Can I Take Some Responsibility • Maybe Put Things in the Form of a Question • Make Folks Aware of Your Circumstances • Praise and Commend When Good Things are Done • Toughen Our Skin • Reverence and Decorum - Principle of 1 Cor.14:40
