The more powerful the device, the more current it takes. Devices which are made to heat up always use a lot more power than those which are not meant to heat up. Back

Our homes will have several different fuses to protect both individual devices, and whole circuits. These days circuit breakers are more common than fuses because they are easier to reset. Residual current devices give extra protection when using devices that could cut the cable. The earth wire also helps protect devices which have metal cases which could become live. Back
