  1. Naturalist and Pictorialist Ariel Kuznia

  2. Naturalist • A Leader during this time: Alfred Stieglitz • Common subjects/themes: Many landscape/natural scenes , unseen sights, city dwellers even or the reflection of the spirit of America. • This movement brought new ideas to taking pictures besides just the regular landscaping and family photos. Now they started to think outside of the box more along the lines of reflection and city life unseen. Alfred photo with quote : “In photography there is a reality so subtle that it becomes more real than reality.”

  3. Pictorialist • One leader during this time: Gertrude Käsebie( also famous Alfred Stieglitz) • Common themes/subjects: similar to the Naturalist. Taking pictures of unseen city sights and such. • Movements philosophy would be that they are always changing the looks of the photographs. Using the photos for artwork rather than history. Gertrude Käsebie Quote by Alfred Stieglitz: The goal of art was the vital expression of self.
