  2. What does the Writing Center do? The Writing Center • helps students, staff, and faculty from across the university community produce effective writing for any number of situations; • helps at any stage of the writing process, from understanding an assignment to developing ideas to polishing a revised draft; and • costs nothing!   3. When is the Writing Center open? • The Writing Center in Clara Belle Williams Hall, room 102, will be open for appointments: • Monday – Thursday, from 9am until 6pm • Friday, from 9am until noon • We also offer walk-in consultations (no appointment necessary) at Corbett Center – 2nd Floor – Rm. 206: • Sunday – Wednesday, from 6pm to 8pm Visit our website at towc.nmsu.edu.

  4. How do I make an appointment? • We use an online scheduling system called WCOnline. You can access it at: • http://nmsu.mywconline.com/ • It looks like this: *The first time you log in every semester, you will be asked to create an account. Don’t worry! It’s easy!   5. What should I bring to my appointment? • A printed copy of the paper you want help with • Your assignment sheet if you have it • A grading rubric for your writing task • A pen or pencil • A willingness to learn Visit our website at towc.nmsu.edu.

What will happen when I arrive? • You will be greeted by one of our qualified consultants, all of whom are graduate students and instructors in the English department. • Your consultant will introduce herself and ask you to fill out some brief paperwork. • You and your consultant will talk about the kind of help you want and the best way to get that help. • And then you’ll get to work!   7. Will you edit and proofread my paper? • No. But we will work with you to identify patterns in grammatical or punctuation errors, so that you can more effectively edit and proofread the essay you brought in and any essay you write in the future. Visit our website at towc.nmsu.edu.

  8. Do you offer online consultations? • Yes. We offer online consultations through NMSU email. However, due to high demand, our consultants will require 3 to 4 business days to return your paper with comments. Does the Writing Center offer workshops? • Throughout the semester, Writing Center consultants will facilitate hour-long workshops: • Go to http://towc.nmsu.edu/events-undergraduates/ for specific information about workshops • All workshops will take place in the Writing Center in Clara Belle Williams Hall, room 102 Visit our website at towc.nmsu.edu.
