  2. How do Nigeriens survive? • To survive through tuff droughts they eat leaves and lizards.

  3. Government • Type : Republic • Independence : August 3, 1960 • Constitution : a new constitution will be voted on in a national referendum on October 31, 2010.

  4. Language • Hausa- is spoken mostly in Niger. • Arabic- is spoken by 10,000 people. • Algerian- was spoken by 10,000 in (1998). • Shuwa- was spoken by 5,000 in (1998). • French- spoken by 6,000 people in (1993). • Dazaga- spoken by 30,000 people in (1998). • Fulfulde- spoken by 450,000 people in (1998). • They speak 56 different languages this are just some of them.

  5. Religon • Islam religion is 98% of population followed by traditional religions and Christianity.

  6. Culture • Niger forms part of the vast Sahelian culture region of western Africa , although the influence of Islam is predominant pre-Islam cultural traditions are also strong and omnipresent.

  7. Foods • Millet, sorghum, and beans major foods crops, and peanuts and cotton are the major cash crops. Rice is grown along the banks of the Niger River. People in all Regions, followed in importance by corn, rice, macaroni, beans, cowpeas, cassava, and wheat dishes such as couscous.

  8. Career Opportunities • Accounting , Finance, NGO (non-government organization), Nurse , Pharmacy, Retail , and Secretarial.
