Shock Incarceration- A short period of incarceration that is designed to deter further criminal activity by “shocking” the offender with the hardships of imprisonment. • Boot Camps are another form of shock incarceration that has declined to popularity in the face of rising cost and inconclusive results.

  3. Home confinement- offenders serve their sentences not in a government institution but at a home • Electronic monitoring- A technique of probation supervision in which the offender’s whereabouts, through not his or her actions, are kept under surveillance by an electronic device
