  5. The stamp system

  6. Behaviour – students behave in line with college expectations. • Arrive on time – students arrive for the lesson on time (or have a valid note and reason). • Uniform – students are wearing full college uniform in their lesson. The only exception to this will be where a medical note is provided. • Equipment – students have all of the correct equipment for their lesson. • Personal best – students work to the best of their ability throughout the lesson, complete homework on time and have their planner signed each week.

  10. Monitors • You will receive an update on your child’s progress and attitude to learning throughout the year. • This is completed by the subject teachers. • These are published just prior to monitor days.

  11. Attitude to Learning • Scale from 1 to 4. • 4 – Excellent participation, exceeds expectations. • 3 – Meets expectations. • 2 – Some issues, maybe missed homework’s or some behaviour issues. • 1 – Limited participation, lacks effort in lessons.

  13. Discussion Point 1 What has gone well for your child during their first month at Cranbourne?

English • Reading 20 minutes every night. • Spelling books – all words which they have to look up how to spell or ask how to spell and all corrections from English books are to be written in their spelling books.  Students and parents able to refer to these at home so that students can work independently to learn them. • Words of the week – 5 new words each week, challenge is to use them whilst talking or in written work.  Parents can help by asking them about their words each week – students will have them written down.

  16. Maths • Mymaths log in: Cranbourne • Password: paper • Each student also has a personal log in so their records can be saved

Homework • Homework is set following a timetable, so homework from a certain subject should be set on the same day each week. • Students are expected to spent between 45 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes on homework every evening. • Homework should be recorded by students in planners. • Deadlines should also be recorded.

  20. Moodle • Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) • Online learning resource • Provides users with an electronic and interactive way of learning • Accessible from school and at home

  21. What can Moodle be used for? • 3 Key Uses: • the provision of study materials such as homework and revision notes • news and updates about CBEC • an alternative method of - and aid to - teaching

  22. What can Moodle be used for? Subject-specific pages – with homework and lesson resources Revision pages with downloadable resources for years 10 and 11 Information specific to each year group Careers and further education advice News and updates about events for students

  23. Help and Advice • Drop-in sessions • Web administrator based in the library every day from 2.50pm – 4pm • Can troubleshoot any issues with Moodle and student emails • Alternatively, email: • moodle@cranbourne.hants.sch.uk www.cbecmoodle.com

Adventure Week • PGL site in Osmington Bay near Weymouth • Monday 7th July to Friday 11th July 2014 • Fun filled action packed week for year 7’s • 3 cooked meals a day • Team building activities • 3 cooked meals a day • Absailing, zip wire, mountain biking, archery to name a few • Ensuite chalets sleeping 4-6

How much will it cost? • £325 payable in instalments. • £50 deposit due Monday 14th October 2013 • £75 due by Monday 2nd December 2013 • £100 due by Monday 3rd March 2014 • £100 due by Monday 5th May 2014 • If you need to discuss an alternative payment plan please contact Miss Trudy Hill in the finance office.
