  7. La mica: Residency card (aka green card)

  8. El coyote • A coyote is a person who helps someone cross the borders illegally.

  10. So, why would people want to immigrate to the U.S.? • More opportunities for education • More job opportunities • The opportunity to move up in life (the land of opportunity!)

  12. Names given to undocumented immigrants. Illegal alien Undocumented There is no legal record of them being here (no American birth certificate, social security). A better word to use • Negative • They are people, not aliens!

  13. How do they get here? • Over staying their visa • A coyote may drive them or hide them in their vehicles. • Climbing fences, going through sewers/tunnels, swimming, walking through deserts etc.
