FLAIR@ FAIR • High brightness low energy beams • Storage rings with 300 keV (LSR) • electron cooling • ε ~ 1 π mm mrad • Δp/p ~ 10–4 • Storage ring with internal targets for collision studies • Slow and fast extraction • Ion traps • HITRAP facility for HCI & pbar • Several 100 times more antiprotons than now • Especially interesting for strangeness physics using stopped antiprotons • Operation after 2017 is the real problem

Principle of Antideuteron Breeding in a Double Storage Ring Breeding Reaction is time inversed of pp pionic fusion pp -> dπ+ The total reaction cross section is large and well known: dσ/dΩ(0)= 3.2 mb with a maximum at Tp = 160MeV and 8,6% pionic fusion branch Matching condition for accumulation anti-deuterons in ring 1
