  2. Nowadays, there are two kinds of cow breeds available that produce milk. Initial is indigenous cow breed, and other is foreign breed. The indigenous cow breed is recognized for providing A2 milk, and these cows are also known as desi cows. However, foreign cow breeds are also known as HF cows. What are Indigenous Cow Breed? It is a fact that HF cow breeds are known for producing quantity milk as compared to quality milk of indigenous cow breed. But the recent research shows that milk churned from the desi cows are healthy for humans as compared to HF cows. Different Types of Indigenous Cow Breed Type #1 : GirCow The Gir breeds are also known as Bhadawari, Gujarati, Sorthi, and Surati. The weight of the female breed is 295 kgs and male breed is 450kgs. Red Sindhi cows have moderate dropping ears, pendulous dewlap, heavy hump, and sheath. Type #3 : Hariana Cow These cow breeds are indigenous breed majorly found in Rohtak, Gurgaon, Hisar, and other areas of Haryana. The horns of this cow breeds are minute, and farmers can produce approx 600 to 800 kg of milk per lactation. The Hariana breeds are famous for producing A2 milk, which contains A2 beta-casein protein. Moreover, this cow breed can resist high temperature and contains only 5% fat. Type #4 : Indigenous Cow Breed: Rathi These cow breeds are also recognized as the Rath. The Rathi cow breeds are mainly found in Alwar district of Rajasthan. Moreover, they can also be found around Bikaner district. The Rathi cow breeds are medium-sized dual-purpose cattle, which can yield 1200 kg of milk per lactation. They can be adopted for road work and heavy plowing.

The milk of these cows is highly nutritious and pure. There has been high demand for this cow milk. Moreover, the milk of these cows can prevent Type-1 diabetes. The milk of these cows is best for the kids as it contains colostrums, which are found in mother’s milk. Type #7 : Tharparkar The tharparkar cow breeds are found mainly in the south-east of Sind, Amarkot, and Chor. These cows are of medium-sized, stiff limbs, and forehead is convex with medium-sized horns. Their dewlaps are moderately developed with a straight and long back. These cattle are also known as Gray Sindhi, Thari, and White Sindhi. The color of these cattle is white or light grey, and they are suitable for plowing and can yield 1800-2600 kg of milk per lactation. 

  5. Type #8 : Indigenous Cow Breed: Kankrej They are also known as Waged, wadhiar, or wadad. They are originated in the region of Rajasthan. Moreover, they are the most substantial cow breeds available in India. The color of these cows ranges from silver grey, steel black, or iron grey. However, the horns of these cows are lyre-shaped and are valued for the powerful, fast, and draught cattle. These cow breeds can be used for carting and plowing. The cows produced quality and quantity milk about 1400 kgs per lactation. Type #9: Krishna Valley These cows are originated from black soil of water. These animals are large and have a vast frame with deep. Their tail is long and can reach the ground. The color of this cow is grey-white with some dark shade. Moreover, these cows are fair milkers and can yield around 916 kgs per lactation. Type #10: Ongole They are also known as Nellore.
