  2. What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)? As Essex residents look to reduce their carbon footprint and cut energy costs while embracing a greener future, thousands are keen to make changes. At Getafreeboiler, we're thrilled to highlight the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), an excellent government scheme aimed at reducing your carbon footprint and cutting your heating bills, especially if you're thinking of installing a new air source heat pump. For qualifying households, this means having a new, cost-effective heating system installed for free.

  3. Is Your Home in Essex Eligible? Qualifying for this BUS depends on the fact that your property is eligible as a domestic or non-domestic building that is small in England or Wales, and you have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). Most importantly, the grant is for the installation of a replacement for an existing fossil fuel system (e.g. a gas or oil boiler) or an electric heat system (e.g. storage or panel heaters) with a heat pump. New-build property and social housing are not normally eligible, but self-build homes can be.
