Toward Baseline Metrics • 802.11 specifies stations (STAs) and Access Points (APs) connected over an air interface. • WPP should focus on serving the 802.11 Standard • Air interface is complex…testing is difficult. • Controlled environments provide repeatable results… but the Real World is not controlled. • Installers, users, IT managers operate in the Real World • Baseline metrics can be defined for both interfaces for STAs and APs to meet the 802.11 Standard

Baseline Metrics Summary • Baseline Metrics for STA…31 • Baseline Metrics for AP…..23 • The WPP Task Group will identify many more metrics as the work progresses. • For example, measurements for WPA security will add an additional 16 metrics, measuring EAPOL frames, EAPOL key frames, 4-way handshake messages, TKIP failures and replay counter failures. • QoS, fast roaming, TPC, DFS, etc. will add more.
