  4. A lot of our guests are astonished by Estonia’s diverse nature. There are more than 7000 rivers and creeks in Estonia. Different forests cover almost half of Estonia’s territory. Forests and wetlands, which have been preserved in Estonia represent a part of original European natural environment, which have become destroyed elsewhere. ESTONIAN NATURE

  5. In 2003 1,47 mln tourists stayed at accommodation establishments in Estonia, this accounts for the total of 2,9 mln overnights. In 2006 the number of tourists staying at accommodation establishments rose to 2,25 mln, overnights to 4,5 mln. 27% of the overnights stayed at theaccommodation establishments have been in Estonia’s Spas.   6. The export of Estonian tourism services has increased every year. In 2003 it accounted for 12bln Estonian kroons, In 2006 17bln kroons. ESTONIAN TOURISM IN NUMBERS

  7. It is remarkable that the percentage of Estonians’ overnights at accommodation establishments has rapidly increased. An important role played by the increase in attendance of spas. The percentage of Estonians in Spas 2003 2007

Estonian SPA Association • Established in1996 (16 members, the total of 1600 beds) • At present 15 members, with the total of 4000 beds (mostly 3*- 4*) • Average utility rate in 2007- 67% • All the members have the license allowing rehabilitation services, issued by the Health Care Board • 13 members are private capital based, 2 enterprises belong to local municipalities • In 2007, the total of 2300 employees worked in the establishments of the Association

  9. In 2001, 92 000 clients used the services the members of the Estonian Spa Association (13), with the total of 601 000 overnight stays. In 2006, 280 000 clients used the services of accommodation establishments, with the total of 1 046 000 overnights. Estonian SPA Association

  11. According to 2006 data, 52% of the spa clients come from Finland, 27% are the domestic clients, 7% come from Sweden, 3% from Russia and 3% from Norway. Tourists from other countries form 8%. Finns and Estonians form approximately 80% of the clients of Estonian SPA Association’s spas. ESTONIAN SPA ASSOCIATION

  12. According to the data of 2007, more than 30% of spa clients are over 65 years of age. Clients at the ages of 56-65 constitute a large majority. ESTONIAN SPA ASSOCIATION

  13. Members’ Economic Performance Total turnover of Estonian Spa Association’s enterprises in 2001 was 22mln EUR, the profit ca 4 mln EUR. The corresponding figures in 2007 - turnover ca 54 mln EUR. ESTONIAN SPA ASSOCIATION
