  1. The biggest killer Tuberculosis (TB) is most neglected.

  2. We have been working on it for the last 5 years.

  3. TB: The Irony of it… • In India 1000 people die of TB every day i.e about 4 lacs a year • India accounts for one-fifth TB cases in the world. • There are 8-9 lacs new cases infected every year. • One may be infected with TB but yet do not know that he/she is infected.

  4. Tuberculosis – A major cause of Morbidity and Mortality in India • In India, two deaths occur every three minutes from tuberculosis (TB). But these deaths are preventable. With proper care and treatment, the battle against TB can be won.

  5. Do You Know • That someone in the world is newly infected with TB bacilli every second • Lacs of Indians are unaware that they have TB. Therefore detection is very important. • That every TB patient infects 10-15 new persons on an average every year.

  6. POINTS TO PONDER • Dramatic rise in drug resistant T.B.cases. In India today there are 1 lac Multi Drug resistant cases • There is separate Deputy Director of TB in Health Ministry in India. We are seeking full support from them to strengthen our efforts.

  7. The Vicious Circle • TB and poverty come together to perpetuate a vicious cycle. • Hazardous living conditions, both for patients and their families – including their children – make this disease uncontrolable.

  8. Stopping spread of Tuberculosis is of concern to everyoneLet us be united to controlTB

  9. Info in your hands… • To create awareness among Rotarians, informative brochures on TB are being sent to all clubs across the country. • The committee believes that more and more awareness and information will motivate Rotarians to make their contribution in this regard.

  10. PDG Club DG Club The power of 31… • We have one PDGDr.VijayRathi as a coordinator in ourdistrict who is in direct contact with the DG and the clubs of that district..

  11. The Roving Eye… • We have FIVE Roving Ambassadors who remain regularly in touch with the coordinators and clubs. Six districts have been assigned to each Roving Ambassador.

  12. Roving Ambassadors … • PPDG Kishore Pawde • DG Suresh Kasliwal • PDG Kuldip C. Kalra • PDG AjitIrom • PDG Dr. Sagadevan

  13. The Visual Appeal… • We distribute posters in English and Hindi for being posted in slums and villages. • Our DG RavindraSalunke making available these posters for all clubs very soon

  14. Guidelines… • Important guidelines are issued to clubs regarding regular intake of medicines to avoid Multi Drug Resistant TB.

  15. Free Medicines… • Clubs can contact Dist. TB officers for supply of free medicines.  • The list of Revenue District TB Officers will be provided by us to each Club shortly.

  16. TB awareness and control is a colossal problem. When you see a handicapped person, you are immediately moved to help him but you might see a TB patient suffering severely and yet not know.

  17. This is the irony of TB patients. There is a separate DDG TB with TB officers all over India but theirs is rather a sad story. Despite very heavy Govt. expenditure, we have 1 lac Multi Drug Resistant patients who are ever increasing. The cause is sheer neglection!

  18. TB Control Program…… This is the irony of TB patients. There is a separate DDG TB with TB officers all over India. Despite very heavy Govt. expenditure, we have 1 lac Multi Drug Resistant patients who are ever increasing. They also need our special attention and support.

  19. _________It is Rotary alone that can control and create awareness about TB. I whole heartedly appeal from this platform to make TB Control Programme a priority project of Rotary.

  20. This project will save not thousands but hundreds of thousands of lives in our country, where it is on the rise. Let us come together now and make a difference. We can do it because we have done it in so many cases. I heard UshaJi yesterday. I am sure it will motivate all of us. I count upon each one of you to make India a TB free nation!
