  8. Or the toy kits or story kits

  9. Or the Early Literacy Station computers

  10. Not even the pictures books… no

  11. The most important item in your collection does not even have a barcode

  12. It’s YOU—the early childhood literacy expert

  13. What are you doing to be the strongest link @ your library?

  14. Don’t just be a collector of materials, be a connector of materials at your library

  15. Don’t hide in the stacks—get out and promote, promote, promote

  16. Harness technology—use digital stories, podcasts, blogs, wikis, & virtual communities

  17. Don’t shush—talk! Spread the word through newsletters, radio and TV public service announcements, the internet, and social media

  18. Get up from the reference desk and connect, connect, connect with your patrons

  19. Create book reviews, bookmarks, posters, videos, and displays to entice, enthrall, & educate

  20. Provide exciting reader’s advisory,booktalks, bibliotherapy, and book giveaways

  21. Step up your programs—present impactful story hours linked to early literacy skills

  22. You are the youth department’s coach, cheerleader, and champion—go out and catch ‘em!

  23. Are your patrons well connected at your library?
