  1. Final presentation Hacking and controlling toy flyers Student : Frédéric Blanc Assistant : Rico Möckel Professor : Auke Jan Ijspeert

  2. Motivation • Global motivation • Hacking vs designing complete flyers • Transform the dragonfly on a research platform

  3. Outline • Overview • Global schematic of the project • Design of the Printed Circuit Board • Results • Conclusion

  4. Overview The dragonfly from WowWeeFlytech : • Two degrees of freedom flyer • Flying behaviour change with the battery’s voltage • No possibility of stabilization • No sensors, no information on what is happening inside • Can control only one flyer a time

  5. Global schematic of the project Batteries 8.4 V 4 V 4 V LDO Step-down regulator 4 V 3.3 V LDO Gyroscope 3.3 V Dual H-bridges DsPic I2C Magnetometer PWM Dual H-bridges Accelerometer UART Bluetooth

  6. Design of the Printed Circuit Board Critical point : the placement of the components • Effect of every components on the other ones • Power device • Magnetic device • Split of the power supply for the sensors

  7. Design of the Printed Circuit Board Top view Bottom view

  8. Design of the Printed Circuit Board The new PCB vs the original one :

  9. Results Inside the plastic structure

  10. Conclusion • Looking back to the goals • Sensors • Programming • The main problems • Time spent for bluetooth module • Time spent on the electronics design

  11. Conclusion • Some possibilities as future work • Finishing the programming tasks • Testing the final flyer • Working on the sensors • Stabilisation • Hovering • Optimizing the PCB • New firmware for the multipoint option • Tracking system (sizing the InfraRed LEDs)

  12. Thanks for you attention !
