The Rule & The Current Policy • The Rules of Racing provide that the Racing Stewards may issue penalties ranging from a • "disqualification or suspension for any period or for any indefinite period and may in lieu thereof or in addition thereto a fine not exceeding HK$600,000 or may impose only a fine not exceeding HK$600,000" - Rule 23(1) • Racing Stewards have always have the power to impose a fine in lieu of or in addition to suspensions, but was rarely invoked Not a New Rule!!! 這已不是一項新規例!!!

Details of the New Penalty Policy (cont'd) • Newly licensed jockeys would be treated as being in the lower half of the proposed range • As always, each case will continued to be assessed on own set of facts • More so than in the past, jockeys MUST make the Stewards aware of their personal circumstances (i.e. ability to pay, upcoming engagements)
