High School Graduation Requirements • Credits: 230 • English – 8 semesters • Math – 4 semesters – Including Algebra & Geometry • Science – 4 Semesters – Including Physical and Biological • Social Science – 7 Semesters • PE – 8 semesters • Health – 1 semester • Fine Art/Foreign Lang – 2 semesters • Academic Breadth – 2 semesters • Passing the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)

  4. WHAT SHOULD YOU HAVE IN PLACE BEFORE APPLYING TO COLLEGE? When students, planning to apply to a 4-year college/university, begin their Senior Year, they should have a Portfolio containing information that will help complete the necessary steps for College Applications. This process will be assisted by NAVIANCE. Students Should Have The Following Portfolio Items Entering The Senior Year: • A list of 5-10 colleges/universities to which you want to apply. • SAT/ACT Scores from your Junior Year. • Copy of your Transcript. • A Calendar: To keep track of important dates. • An E-mail Account: Make sure it is appropriate for College Admission Officers. Remove spam blockers. • Facebook: Remove any pictures or wording that could be offensive if viewed by an Admissions Officer.

Continued…. • A completed Resume. • A completed “Letter of Recommendation Request” form. • Identification of at least THREE people who have agreed to write Letters of Recommendation for you. • A NAVIANCE Account. • Results of the NAVIANCE College/Career Searches. • A list of Activities and Community Service hours. • A draft of your Personal Statement (UC) or Essay (Private Universities).

On Campus College Visits • Meet representative from various universities. • Check the CNHS bulletin, Naviance e-mails, or Counseling Center for scheduled visits. • Continue to check your Naviance account for additional college visits throughout the year. • Sign up in the Counseling Center. • Please refer to the September college visitation calendar in your PowerPoint handout for the most current visitation dates.
