  6. Two Radicals • If there are two radicals in the equation, make sure you have one on each side of the equal sign before squaring both sides

  7. Solve for x and check for extraneous solutions. X=5 X = -3 is an extraneous solution

  8. Factor the equation with fractional exponents to solve for x

  9. Factor the equation with negative exponents to solve for x

  10. Factor by grouping (2x+3)² + 4(2x+3) + 5 = 0 (2x+3)² + 4(2x+3) = -5 (2x+3)(2x+3+4) = -5 (2x+3)(2x+7) = -5 2x + 3 = -5 2x + 7 = -5 2x = -8 2x = -12 x=-4 x=-6
