  2. The Baltic Sea The Baltic Sea is a brackish sea with both salt and fresh water. It doesn`t have big tides, and the sea water is low in salinity.

  3. Estonia is located on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea with nearly 3,800 km of coastline and nearly 700 km of land border.

  4. Estonian flag has blue colour on it. One of the reasons why this colour was chosen is the following: blue sky above the native land or the reflection of the Baltic Sea.

  5. In 2014, Estonia is the coordinator of Nordic - Baltic cooperation. 2014 is the year of the Baltic Sea in Estonia. 1,224 km-long natural gas pipelines through the Baltic Sea

  6. Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Germany, Denmark and Sweden divide the Baltic Sea

  7. More than 85 million people live close to the Baltic Sea and this area is of great importance, not only in terms of environment and economy, but also in terms of energy and transport.

  8. Estonian Fishermen catch Baltic herrings, sprats, hake, flukes, salmons and seals. Fish farms produce eels, trout, carps and crayfishes.

  9. Cruise ships from Estonia go to Helsinki, Stockholm, St. Petersburg and Saaremaa island.

  10. The Baltic Sea in Estonia is changeable – in summer, the water temperature can exceed 20 degrees.

  11. but in winter, the ice is thick enough to support roads.

  14. Old City Marina is in the very heart of Tallinn.

  15. PaldiskiHarbour is the second cargo port located 45 km west of Tallinn.

  16. MuugaHarbour is the biggest cargo harbour in Estonia located 17 km east of Tallinn.

  17. KuivastuHarbour serves passenger ferries. It has places for 50 vessels.

  18. A lot of people go to the Estonian islands and have a rest in seaside resorts. The main islands of Estonia are Saaremaa, Hiiumaa, Muhu, Vormsi, Kassari, Kihnu, and so on.

  19. Saaremaa is the largest island in Estonia, 2, 673 km².

  20. Hiiumaa is the second island (989 km²) of Estonia. It is located in the Baltic Sea, north of the island of Saaremaa.

  21. Ristna in Hiiumaa Island - has the best wind direction. It is the ideal place for surfing.

  22. Muhu is the third island in the Baltic Sea, 198 km² belonging to Estonia, after Saaremaa and Hiiumaa.

  23. Vormsi is the 4th largest island (92 sq. km.) in northwestern part of Estonia.

  24. Coastline of Kesselaid island Area of the island: 1.7 km2

  25. Kessecliffon the northwesternsideof the Kesselaidisland.

  26. Seashore of Kihnu island Area of the island: 16.38 km2

  27. A large part of Estonia’s natural landscapes and culture is closely connected to the Baltic sea AND WE LOVE IT.
