  11. Be Sure to Have a Mentor!If you don’t have one, get one!

Your Mentor: • guides you to build strong, long term relationships with your Rotary Club, the District and Rotary International, by helping you understand the philosophy, policies and procedures of Rotary at various levels • may be the person who sponsored you or a different member of the club (typically before your induction) • will maintain regular contact with you, for six months to one year, or as long as necessary, to probe interests, answer questions, and anticipate upcoming events and activities so that you are prepared to carry out your role as an effective and engaged member Best Practices for Mentors

Your First Month: • Review your Rotarian Welcome Kit & information inside! • Learn About Your Role as a New Member • About Rotary - learn about Rotary International's Priorities, Structure, Leadership, Partners, History, Financials, and be able to access the Official Directory • Create Your Rotary International Login Account and Profile • Create Your Club Login Account and Profile • Rotary Basics • Rotary Acronyms and Terminology • Review the Get To Know Your Club and other handouts in your Kit

Your First 90 Days: • Connect For Good - learn about the ways that you, through Rotary, will connect for the greater good • Getting To Know Your District 7090 • The Rotary Foundation - learn about the unique features of the Rotary Foundation, our causes, programs, how to get more involved and how your support of Rotary is working across the globe • Sign Up To Receive Newsletters • Join A Committee at Your Club • Join an International Rotary Action Group or Special Interest (Fellowship) Group • Work Towards Completing Your New Member Checklist
