ASHI OBJECTIVES Empowerment and Rehabilitation of Women and Children in distress Preventing exploitation by anti-social elements To ensure equal status and dignity for men and women Accelerating development process through community participation Facilitate co ordination between various welfare agencies Reduce infant mortality, Maternal mortality and promote healthy families

ASHI OBJECTIVES Eradicate Nutritional deficiencies by ensuring adequate diet Providing basic education and vocational training to children and to inculcate dignity of labour Promote awareness for the adoption of the small family norm Achieve definite income supplementation/generation for women below the poverty line, by organizing Socio � Economic activities. Ensure safe drinking water and environmental sanitation

5. ASHIANA � HOW IT STARTED To minimize child suffering. Ashiana � Project of ASHI, Haryana A home for children in crisis Attention towards social aspects in the deprived section. Fulfillment of some of the objectives of ASHI

6. BRIEF HISTORY Founded by Dr. M. C. Mamgain in a rented accommodation of two rooms. Started on 17th of November 1981 with 8 children Children had a House mother and a helper Provided with food, clothing and education Donations by Department of Social Welfare, Haryana, individuals and agencies from Panchkula and Chandigarh.

DEVELOPMENT OVER THE YEARS 1988 ASHI has purchased 2000 units of UTI as corpus fund 1994 Foundation laying ceremony of Ashiana Building at Sector 16, Panchkula 1996 ASHIANA shifted to a new building 1998 Number of children rose to 32 Construction/Expansion of Ashiana Building at Sector 16, Panchkula 2004 First Floor Construction Completed Number of children increased to 40

8. DEVELOPMENT OVER THE YEARS 2005 Second floor construction started. Capacity of children increased to 50 2006 Second floor construction completed. Segregation of Boy�s and Girl�s floors. Setting up of Computer Lab for Ashiana children Setting up of Library Cum Reading Room In-house preparatory school was conducted for children who were not taken in regular schools because of poor foundation 2007 Computer Lab for Children from underprivileged section of society Nav chetana � Adult education & vocational training for underprivileged women 2008 Created a corpus fund of Rs 3,00,000 for sponsoring children�s education.

24. DONATIONS Expenditure per child per month is Appx. Rs 1600 Full cooperation received from Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali Communities and also well wishers from abroad. Several donations of cash and kind received from various donors (regular and casual)
