Sustainable Practices Civic leaders recognize the many benefits to implementing sustainable practices, and they include financial, social, and environmental benefits that are also known as the “Triple Bottom Line .” Developing sustainable communities means preserving the natural environment we all enjoy and rely on every day of our lives.

Sustainable Legislation AB 32 - Assembly Bill 32, The Global Warming Solutions Act - was approved by the Governor of California on September 27, 2006, and directs the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to adopt a statewide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions limit equivalent to the statewide greenhouse gas emissions levels in 1990 to be achieved by year 2020.

Sustainable Legislation SB 375 - Senate Bill 375, the Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act, is legislation that directs the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to set greenhouse gas reduction targets for regions of the state and work with California's 18 metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) to align their transportation, housing, and regional land-use plans with greenhouse gas reductions in mind.
