  2. What is the purpose of this medication? Alogliptin is a medication that is used to treat high blood sugar in people who have type 2 diabetes. It works in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise regimen to help people with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. This disorder occurs when your body does not create or use insulin properly. It also aids in the prevention of blindness, neurological problems, sexual function issues, kidney damage, and limb loss by managing blood sugar levels.It also raises the amounts of incretins, which are natural chemicals. If you take this medication, it will affect your lifestyle. For example, you will need to check your blood sugar on a frequent basis to help control your diabetes and improve your health. You will also need to quit smoking or stick to the diet and exercise routines.
