  2. Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOs) • CILO1: Apply fundamental circuit theorems to the analysis of a DC circuit • CILO2: Apply fundamental circuit theorems to the analysis of an AC circuit • CILO3: Apply diode models to basic circuits • CILO4: Apply transistors to basic circuits and describe their operation • CILO5: Apply the characteristics of an operational amplifier to construct basic functional circuits Course Information for EE2301

  3. Basic course structure Block A Week 1 - 3 DC circuits CILO 1 Block B AC circuits Week 4 - 6 CILO 2 Block C Semiconductor devices Week 7 - 9 CILO 3 & 4 Block D Operational amplifiers Week 10 - 12 CILO 5 Course Information for EE2301

  4. Detailed course structure • Block A: DC circuits • Unit 1: Laws, terms, sources, resistive networks • Unit 2: Methods of analysis • Unit 3: One-port and two-port networks • Block B: AC circuits • Unit 1: Sinusoids, phasors, impedance • Unit 2: Solving AC circuits, frequency response • Block C: Semiconductor devices • Unit 1: Diodes • Unit 2: MOSFET • Unit 3: BJT • Block D: Operational amplifiers • Amplifier model, ideal operational amplifier (op amp) • Op amp circuits Course Information for EE2301

  5. Tutorial Classes • IMPORTANT – Do NOT skip!! • Meant to reinforce material covered in lectures • Every unit is accompanied with a problem set (about 10 questions for each) • Make sure you work through them before each tutorial class • Use the tutorial class to clarify your doubts and not to copy solutions • DO NOT let your work fall behind!! If there is something you are not clear on, do not wait to deal with it: Settle it immediately – Ask! Course Information for EE2301

  6. Assessment Timeline Week 1 - 3 DC circuits Assignment 1 Quiz 1 (week 5) AC circuits Week 4 - 6 Assignment 2 Quiz 2 (week 9) Amplifiers Week 7 - 9 Electronic devices Week 10 - 12 Assignment 3 Quiz 3 (week 13) Examination Course Information for EE2301

  7. Assessment Weighting Equal weighting for each Assignment + Quiz combo (13.33%) Assignment 1 + Quiz 1 Assignment 2 + Quiz 2 Assignment 3 + Quiz 3 Student 40% Instructor Student Examination 60% Instructor Course Information for EE2301

  8. Assignments • Meant to prepare you in advance for the upcoming quiz (pre-quiz assignment) • Based on the material covered thus far • Meant to provide feedback on your grasp of the material thus far • Give your best shot for the assignment • Do it on your own (OK to discuss, but DO NOT COPY) Course Information for EE2301
