2. SOIL CONSITENCY Atterberg Limits Terzaghi (1925) is generally credited with recognizing the use of the liquid and plastic limits as consistency index. Atterberg's original procedure for determining the liquid limit was modified (Casagrande, 1932) to improve the reproducibility of the test.
