  1. Romans 12:3-4 CJB • 3 For I am telling every single one of you, through the grace that has been given to me, not to have exaggerated ideas about your own importance. Instead, develop a sober estimate of yourself based on the standard which God has given to each of you, namely, trust. 4 For just as there are many parts that compose one body, but the parts don't all have the same function;

  2. costume • The process of covering the true identity of a person causing one to appear to be something or someone that is opposite of their true God-given identity.

  3. The greatest crisis in the world is an identity crisis. • Identity Crisis-distress and disorientation resulting from conflicting pressures and uncertainty about one's self and one's role in society

  4. Many people are motivated by other people’s appearance of success which causes them to lose sight or their God-given identity.

  5. Everyone wants to be somebody, but not everybody wants to be the right somebody.

  6. The most frustrating place in life is to play a role you are not fit for nor are your created for.

  7. In a Role you don’t fit: • You are subject to extreme burnout. • You become easily discouraged. • You become sensitive and easily offended. • You are consistently exhausted. • No matter how hard you try it never works out.

  8. James 1:23-24 CJB • 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror ; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.

  9. Influence is always forced when the authenticity of a person is absent.

  10. Isaiah 49:1-3 (CJB) • 1 Coastlands, listen to me; listen, you peoples far away: ADONAI called me from the womb; before I was born, he had spoken my name.

  11. 2 He has made my mouth like a sharp sword while hiding me in the shadow of his hand; he has made me like a sharpened arrow while concealing me in his quiver.

  12. 3 He said to me, "You are my servant, Isra'el, through whom I will show my glory."

  13. Benefits of discovering your true identity. • You become a magnet for God’s favor. • You are free from society’s pressure. • Your life takes on meaning and significance causing you to leave a legacy for future generations.
