INTRODUCTION • Numerous institutions conduct research within the Post-School Education and Training (PSET) fraternity • Types of research conducted by the PSET community varies from basic to evaluative research • However, the research being undertaken is not known by the PSET community. Often resulting in research duplication • Reason: there is no focal point or platform whereby these types of research can be shared before they can be executed and disseminate findings thereafter • Therefore, it is imperative to have a holistic view of the types of research that is being conducted, planned, and for what purpose and by whom

  4. PURPOSE & ULTIMATE GOAL • PURPOSE • To conduct an analysis of PSET research by DHET and related entities • ULTIMATE GOAL • Improved State of Research on PSET as promulgated in the White Paper for Post-School Education and Training (2013)

CONCLUSION • Applied research mostly undertaken by the participants • Little research has been undertaken through Research Chairs • Basic research mostly conducted through Post-graduate Research grants • Evaluative research mostly conducted by SETAs • Evidence of research collaborations amongst members of the PSET community

  11. RECOMMENDATIONS • More collaborative research must be undertaken to strengthen research capacity • A journal for the PSET community must be established to publish research findings • THANK YOU!
