  1. KOREAN SCI-FI AND FANTASY SHOWS ARE AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW Netflix's collection can be overwhelming, but it also includes a lot of international content. While international television can seem scary at first, it can be a great way to escape into another world. Furthermore, many Netflix imports have English dubbing audio. With so many alternatives, where do you begin? Korean dramas, which are masterworks of dramatic storytelling, are perhaps the best place to begin: from romances to crime thrillers to historical epics, these shows dazzle with rich characters and plots that never take themselves too seriously. These stories' science-fiction twists have resulted in cross-genre hidden gems deep within Netflix's algorithm. Below are seven alternatives, as well as the American series and films that they are similar to. Check Kissasian site for more info about Asian drama. THE KING, THE ETERNAL MONARCH Lee Gon is the ruler of the mythical Kingdom of Corea, but one day he crosses a barrier and finds himself in the Republic of Korea, a parallel reality. His adventures in the real world led him to cross paths with

  2. mirror characters from his past, including a young cop who he recognizes as the woman who saved him as a child. Meanwhile, his nefarious uncle is working to expel him from both worlds. The King combines royal intrigue in the vein of Hamlet with crime procedurals, adding a supernatural element and a healthy dose of romance for good measure. With new episodes released every week on Netflix, this program is only halfway through its first season, but there's plenty to get you started, as well as a rich, meaty plot. ABYSS Cha Min, a cosmetics heir, and Go Se-Yeun, an aspiring lawyer, are pals who die in separate incidents. They use the Abyss, a marble-like resurrection stone, to inhabit new bodies. While adjusting to their new forms and facing their loved ones, they must investigate the murder of Go Se-original Yeun's self. This show is a mash-up of fantasy, murder mystery, and romance, yet it manages to keep each dish spinning well. It also asserts that beautiful people have an easier time getting successful in life. While Se- new Yeun has a more typical body, Cha Min is given "a face that will make life easier," which is a big contrast between the two of them. WARNING FOR LOVE At first look, Love Alarm appears to be a lighthearted teen romance novel. In a world where an app advertises your desire to everyone within a 10-meter radius, teenage Kim Jo-Jo is forced to choose between two men: her childhood best friend and the big guy on campus, both of whom "ring her alarm," but approach love in very different ways. The premise may feel sanctimonious and technophobic at first glance, yet there is genuine sadness in seeing love through multiple eyes. Of course, there's a lot of teen drama, but that's part of the appeal. In general, K-dramas contain 16 episodes, however Netflix's first season only has the first eight. Season 2 filming was halted due to the coronavirus outbreak, but it is surely on its way. We'll find out who Jo-Jo chose soon enough. KINGDOM

  3. While a show about a zombie apocalypse might not be the ideal choice right now, Kingdom is about much more than zombies. Crown Prince Lee Chang must not only preserve his people from a new virus, but also his family's claim to the throne. Political intrigue, power battles, betrayals... and a horde of zombies are all part of this story. One of the benefits of Korean drama is that it has a long history from which genre shows like this can draw inspiration. If you liked Game of Thrones, you'll love this: a dying king, a mighty and, more crucially, power-hungry dynasty, a pregnant and cunning Queen, a wise friend who discovers vital information about a rare sickness in a book...and, of course, zombies. REMEMBER TO LIVE UP TO YOUR NAME A traditional Korean medical practitioner is transported from the 17th century to modern-day Seoul, where he clashes with a young upstart cardiac surgeon. She becomes outraged when he uses only acupuncture to save one of her patients, but as the show unfolds, it transforms into a combination of romance, medicine, and time travel that balances all three components better than you'd expect. Of course, a K-Tension wouldn't be complete without a tragic history, which is explored in depth throughout the course of the show's 16 episodes, balancing the drama between the two universes and culminating in a painful conclusion, as with all time-crossed romances.
