This training session focuses on drafting ideas to create clear links between evidence and scores on the COF framework. Participants will analyze, score, compare, and use specific language for effective connections.

Content/Language Objective At the end of the training, participants will be able to draft 3 ideas for ensuring that the evidence cited on the COF creates a clear link for the teacher between the evidence and the score, using language that compliments the COF Framework, with their group: • Analyzing 3 COFs, • Scoring them based on the evidence presented, • Comparing group scores to normed scores, and • Using the stem, “One way to provide clear links between scores and evidence is ______. This shows the link because _______."
Agenda • Whole Group to Determine COF Scores Based on Evidence • Group Work to Determine COF Scores Based on Evidence • Compare Group Scores to Norm Scores • Debrief
Whole Group Using the COF: • Let’s read one indicator at a time. • Assign a score individually. • Discuss as a whole group. • Compare the individual score to the norm score. • Why are the scores similar? • Why are the scores different? • What would need to be included to make the connection more clear between the evidence and the score?
Using the Process We Just Modeled to Review 3 More COFs • COF #1—Go through one indicator at a time. COFs #2 and #3 go through entire COF first. • Assign a score individually. • Discuss as a whole group. • Compare the individual score to the norm score. • Why are the scores similar? • Why are the scores different? • What would need to be included to make the connection more clear between the evidence and the score?
Hmmm. • How do you think each of these people were able to complete these COFs in 1.5 hours or less?
Considerations • In trios, discuss three ideas this session has helped you to arrive at that would assist in making clearer connections between the evidence and scores. • Which idea(s) will you commit to using for the foreseeable future? • What will be difficult in doing this (these)? • What questions/wonderings do you still have?
