  1. Why is Copper Extensively Used in MakingElectric Wires?

  2. Copper has been the preferred choice for electric wires among manufacturing units and industries for years. It is widely used in electric wiring. To be precise, the use of copper has been significant since the invention of the telegraph and electromagnet. Bare copper wires are used in power telecommunications as well.  distribution, transmission and Copper is widely known to be a good conductor of electricity. That’s why you can find its extensive use in the manufacturing of goods and appliances. It is also less oxidative than other metals besides having high thermal conductivity. Bare copper wires can be molded into different shapes as they are flexible in nature.

  3. Coming back to its oxidation, you should know that copper does not rust. However, it produces a greenish patina known as copper oxide. In this blog, we’ll understand why copper is used in making electric wires. Good conductor of electricity As stated earlier, copper is an excellent conductor of electricity. It can carry more electric current per diameter of the wire. In a nutshell, when an electric current passes, bare copper wires deplete less electrical charge as compared to other wires. It’s safe and durable as well.

  4. Copper has ductility Bare copper wire jumpers are ductile as copper is a heavily ductile metal. In other words, we can say that cooper can be stretched to the desired length without weakening or breaking. It's one of the prime reasons why bare copper wire connectors and jumpers are widely used and are safe. One can draw wires out of the copper metal.

  5. Temperature tolerance In case a high voltage current passes through wires, the temperature tends to become high. There is fluctuation in the temperature as it constantly rises and falls. Here, copper wire can bear the load of high voltage or fluctuating temperature and is safe to use. Copper wires last longer and are known to be durable.

  6. Resistant to abrasion and electric shocks If we talk about the chemical properties of copper, we can make out that it’s safe to make electric wires. The reason being copper is resistant to abrasion, and bare copper wires are resistant to voltage fluctuations, short circuits, and electric shocks. In a layman’s language, copper electric wires can withstand extreme weather conditions without breaking or bending.

  7. Besides these factors, you should also consider copper wires as they are inexpensive and are easily available in the market. With that said, you should invest your time and money in buying quality copper wires. Check for the label with international safety standards.  If you’re looking to procure copper wires in bulk, we can help! Ganpati Engineering is a trusted copper wire manufacturer in India. You can procure bare copper wires, braided copper wires, tinned wires, tinsel wires, etc.
