  1. Corrib gas land dispute The two sides of argument from the Oil company and the protesters!

  2. Arguments Pro shell company • Shell promises that they will supply energy for homes and businesses. • The development of this project would supply jobs. • They promise that admissions will not harm future generations and also that the pipe-line will be completely safe and have a substantial safety margin. • The project itself will contribute 3 billion euro to irelands GDP.

  3. Against shell company • The development of this project would disrupt the quiet of the villages near by. • They worry about unclean gas eroding pipe-lines and having more chance of explosion. • There would be an increase in traffic and volume of people. • People worry about the pressure of the pipe. • Shell has put down 3km of illegal pipes. • These pipes will look ugly in the surrounding landscape.

  4. Our opinion on the matter • Max: Shell is a major corporation and does not always give details of projects to the public . • Hannah: What will happen to the development when all the gas is gone? • Nisha: The development would destroy the surrounding environment!
